80 Percent Of Nursing Homes Falsify Staffing Numbers

By November 17, 2014February 9th, 2017Nursing Home Abuse

A recent investigation conducted by the Center for Public Integrity has found that most nursing homes inflate their number of skilled nursing staff when reporting to public and government nursing home ranking websites. As we’ve discussed before, there is no oversight of Medicare’s nursing home rating system. This recent report serves to further illustrate the necessity to strengthen regulations regarding verification of the comfort and safety of nursing home residents.

One of the most effective ways to protect a loved one from nursing home abuse and neglect is by selecting a home that employs skilled nursing staff and maintains strict hiring practices. Unfortunately, when homes can self-report their staffing levels, families are often misled into selecting a home that is ill-suited to meet their loved one’s needs.

If you find a loved one has suffered mistreatment in their care facility, you have every right to hold the responsible party accountable. The Seattle nursing home attorneys at the Hornbuckle Firm are here to take your case and fight tooth and nail to ensure justice is served.
